As far our campsite/place to stay, it has really lived up to what I was expecting and more. There are quite a few full timers here but even so, this is a QUIET park! I know there must be some kids around because I see the toys, but I have not heard a single one so far! This place is also CLEAN! I mean, the bathrooms and showers are really, really clean. No spiders, no grunge on the floors, clean toilets and no graffiti. If there is any downside, it would be that the sites themselves are gravel so you may have to level yourself out a bit. We got lucky and it worked with no boards at all, but we saw others that had to use a few to level out. Also, the services are in the back of the site, so have long hoses and cords.

Nice, old campground located in the southern end of the Los Padres National Forest. What is nice is that you are camping under some very large and old California oaks. Shady and with a “playable” stream right down the center. The downsides: Nats. Tons and tons of them! Also, some yellow jackets. We had a screen tent and that was a help, but there really was quite a few to battle with. Also, due to fire restrictions, there are NO campfires allowed, and NO BBQ's with charcoal and lighter fluid. NONE. Not much of a problem if you plan for it. Of course, a fire would have been nice to smoke the nats away. This was a totally dry campground. No water to drink and no dump station. We brought an extra 6 gal of water along with the 13 gal or so that the Tardis holds and we had plenty. Of course, we did not shower and just sort of washed up, but that was more a concern of our gray water tank than of running out of fresh water. All and all, a good place to visit in the fall, but it looks like it would be unpleasant during the summer. Also, there was word that during the summer, the locals come up and party in large numbers. So, if you go..bring water, and a screen tent.

This is an interesting place to say the least. They have their own pond/lake thing. There are a lot of residents, a few vacation home people and then us overnighters. I have to admit that is the friendliest place around! Lots of nice folks, not too noisy. The roads around here are dirt, so don't expect the best accommodations if you are used to a more luxurious style. They can handle RV's of any size, and tents too, but like many parks, the spaces for the larger rigs are limited. There is no cable, no TV, no cell phone coverage and you are lucky if you can get radio inside your rig. There is Wi-Fi, but only if you take your laptop to the bar/office area. Bring a book! The lake is interesting. It is basically a few streams built up behind a dam. But I have to say that I find it “nice”. There is catch and release fishing, paddle boats, a swim area and an area to launch water balloons into the lake at your friends and strangers. There is also...a bar! OK, so it is not a FULL bar. In fact, all they sell is beer. Still, on a hot day in August, looking over the lake and having a cold one...
